Walking

Exploring the British countryside. Follow along for walk write-ups, walking related reflections, and life on the path with Elvis.

I've spent a lot of time walking over the years. The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons, coastal paths in Cornwall, Dartmoor, Exmoor, the South Downs, the Cotswolds. These days, since moving to the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, my goal is to walk as much of the area as I can — favouring relaxation over accomplishment.

Most of my walking is done alone, with just Elvis for company. He's a large white goldendoodle with a talent for stopping strangers in their tracks. If you see us out and about, feel free to say hello — Elvis always appreciates a fuss, whether people intended to give him one or not.

Walking and photography go hand in hand for me, and occasionally we venture further afield when the opportunity arises — often combined with a camping trip, or a lads weekend away as I prefer to call them. There's still plenty of the UK I'd like to get to.

In the blogs section you'll find walk write-ups, trips we've taken, and the odd walking-related reflection that pops into my head. I have a considerable backlog to work through, so it'll be constantly updated.

I'm also working on a series of four books on the Chiltern Hills — landscape, villages, woodland and wildlife, and waterways. More on those as they develop.
