“Walking brings me peace,
Photography gives me purpose and connection.”
Black & White Countryside Photography from the Chiltern Hills and Rural England
Welcome to Walking With Pics
I'm Mark Weekes. I photograph rural England exclusively in black and white — predominantly the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, as well as other areas of the British countryside that rarely make it onto anyone's list of must-visit locations. Just a camera, a dog, and wherever the walk takes me.
Through my work I want to show that you don't need expensive equipment or a long drive to find something worth photographing. The villages, fields and footpaths close to home have as much to offer as anywhere else — you just have to learn to look at them properly. If you're thinking about picking up a camera for the first time, this site is as much for you as it is for anyone else. The barrier to starting is lower than the camera industry would have you believe.
The Chiltern Hills are also far more than a backdrop for photographs. They are one of England's most rewarding areas for walking, packed with dog friendly routes (tested and approved by my dog, Elvis), ancient woodland, hidden villages and a landscape that changes completely with the seasons. Whether you're here for the photography, the walking routes, or just to discover what the Chilterns has to offer — there's plenty to explore.
Welcome to my black and white world.
