Walks.

This is where I write about my walks. Sometimes it’s just a route I’ve taken, sometimes it’s more of a ramble — reflections, thoughts, or anything that pops into my head.

Most of the walks are with my dog, Elvis. They range from short village loops to woodland paths and other local spots in the Chiltern Hills and beyond. I usually include a few photos, a bit of writing about the day, and, if it’s useful, a link to the full route on OS Maps so you can follow it exactly as I did.

I like to try and get a new walks blog out on the 17th of the month, and for anyone interested in photography, I post photography-related blogs on the 3rd over on the blogs page. Feel free to sign up for the newsletter if you want to keep track.

Wooburn Green to Cookham and Bourne End Circular Walk

It’s Boxing Day, and it’s going to be a busy one. The family are coming over for a late afternoon lunch, and I’ve already done the mental arithmetic. There’s just enough of a window for Elvis and me to get a morning walk in and still be back in time to help get things ready. Nothing ambitious — just one of our familiar loops from the doorstep.

The forecast looks right for the kind of photographs I’m drawn to. Cloudy with sunny spells, a slight chill in the air, perfect walking weather. As we leave the house and head towards Wooburn Park, the village begins to quieten behind us. Some walks feel like routines, others like journeys. This one sits somewhere in between — familiar enough to feel welcoming, yet varied enough to keep surprising you each time you set out.
